US convenience food group Basic American Foods has bought Oregon-based Harry’s Fresh Foods for an undisclosed sum.

Basic American Foods president and CEO Loren Kimura said the “continued popularity” of fresh and prepared convenience food had been a key factor in the deal.

“Harry’s annualized growth rate of 30% over the last decade reflects its operational excellence and its commitment to quality, taste, and convenience in its family of products,” Kimura added.

Harry’s founder Rod Harris will continue as to head the company, which will continue to be based in the city of Portland.

California-based Basic American Foods focuses on potato-based convenience products, including the Naturally Potatoes brand of refrigerated potato products.
