Baumer Foods will not be reopening its bottling facility in New Orleans, following the devastation reaped on the city by Hurricane Katrina.

A report by the Associated Press said that although president and owner Alvin Baumer Jr does not have a new site selected for the 250-employee plant, which bottles Crystal Hot Sauce amongst other products, it would not be in New Orleans.

At present, Baumer is using private-label bottlers to package the company’s brands.

The company has operated in New Orleans for 81 years.
