Californian convenience foods producer Bridgford Foods Corporation has posted a net loss for the first half of 2006 of US$65,000, against a net loss of $0.85m in the first half of 2005.


The company said that gross margins had increased slightly on a comparative basis due primarily to higher selling prices and lower meat commodity costs. Sales for the first half of the 2006 fiscal year rose by 2.6% to $62.88m.


The company, which produces frozen dough, microwaveable and shelf-stable sandwiches, dry sausages, processed meats and other convenience foods, posted net income for the second quarter of $72,000, against a net loss in the second quarter of 2005 of $0.65m. Sales for the second quarter rose by 2.1% to $28.31m.
