US egg firm Cal-Maine Foods has given its chairman Fred Adams emeritus status following his decision to step down from the role for health reasons.

Cal-Maine said Adams will be named chairman emeritus in recognition of his long service and role as founder of the company. He will also no longer be on the Cal-Maine board.

President and CEO Dolph Baker has succeeded Adams as chairman. COO Sherman Miller has been elected to the vacant seat on the board and will fill Adams’s unexpired term.
