Calbee America is to move to a new manufacturing plant in Fairfield, California’s Solano Business Park. The company moved its manufacturing operation from Sebastopol, California where it had been for eight years. All Calbee management-level employees were part of the move.

Calbee, a subsidiary of Japan-based Calbee Foods Co, said the new facility is 40,000 square-feet, four-times larger than its plant in Sebastopol, and includes the ability to expand by 35,000 square-feet. Plans are also underway for the company to move its headquarters from Torrance, California to the Fairfield site. The Torrance location would then function as a sales office.
Calbee America markets and distributes healthful snack foods including Snapea Crisps, Shrimp Flavored Chips and a variety of other chip products. Its offerings are supplied to retailers throughout the United States and Canada. The Fairfield plant handles all manufacturing for the United States and Canada.
“Fairfield is a very important location for our company. When we decided to move we looked at many Bay Area sites-from north of Santa Rosa, south to Fremont, and in the end Fairfield was the most favorable,” says Masanori Yasunaga, Calbee’s president and CEO. “Its location near major freeways makes it a good distribution point, plus its excellent water quality and supply were a major factor in our decision to move here.”
