Campbell Soup Co. chief Doug Conant has been elected chairman of US-based management consultants The Conference Board.

Conant replaces PricewaterhouseCoopers CEO Samuel DiPiazza Jr as chairman of the not-for-profit body.

The Conference Board, which is based in New York, has offices in Brussels and Hong Kong and seeks to “create and disseminates knowledge about management and the marketplace to help businesses strengthen their performance and better serve society”.

The body is run by a board of trustees, which also counts Unilever chief executive Patrick Cescau among its members.

Conant has held the top job at Campbell for six years and is currently overseeing something of a change in focus at the US-based food group.
