Campbell Soup Co. has launched two limited-edition soups into 10 cities in the US.
The US food group said today (4 October) the two “artisanal” soups would go on sale “while supplies last” at select supermarkets in cities including Washington DC, Cleveland and Seattle.
The lines – Sun-Ripened Yellow Tomato soup and Harvest Orange Tomato – are made with yellow and orange tomatoes, which the company uses in its V8 V-Fusion vegetable and fruit juices.
“These two new artisanal varieties of tomato soup give people an opportunity to try something new with a little twist; each of these new soups has its own distinctive flavor and a delicious blend of herbs and spices that make it special, with a different taste profile from the original,” said Deborah Arcoleo, soup innovation business director at Campbell.
The products will go on sale at Food Lion, Fred Meyer, Giant Eagle and Price Chopper stores.
Campbell is embarking on a critical US soup season for the business. The company has launched a US$100m marketing campaign to boost its soup sales in the US, a market where its sales have suffered in recent months.
