ConAgra Foods has announced the closure of two popcorn-making facilities in Ohio, a move that sees 160 jobs put at risk.

The Marion and Morral facilities will stop production by 10 October and the end of June next year respectively.

“We have low asset use in the plant and redundant operations, which negatively impacts the efficiency of our supply chain network. Closing the Marion and Morral facilities is part of our efforts to optimise the company’s supply chain,” a spokesperson for the firm said.

Production will be moved to “other plants in the company that have similar capabilities”, she added.
