Soaring fuel and commodity costs pushed US crisp manufacturer Golden Enterprises into the red during the three months to 29 February.

The Golden Flake maker booked a net loss of US$26,790 during its fiscal third quarter, despite revenue rising 2% to $27.6m.

“Corn and cooking oil prices have increased dramatically over the past year as the demand for ethanol fuels have increased,” the company said.
