Singapore-listed food group Del Monte Pacific is facing a US$100m lawsuit in the US in a dispute over the Del Monte trademark.

Del Monte Pacific has been accused of selling products in regions covered by another company, Fresh Del Monte Produce Inc, which co-owns the Del Monte brand name.

Fresh Del Monte Produce Inc is the licensee of the Del Monte brand for processed products in Europe, Middle East and Africa, and for fresh produce worldwide.

Fresh Del Monte has accused the Singapore-based firm of selling Del Monte products in areas it controls.

The complaint has been filed in a US District Court in New York.
