Del Monte Foods is in talks to sell its seafood business to Dongwon Enterprise Co., the US food group has revealed.
The company said the discussions are in connection with its previously-announced exploration of strategic alternatives for its seafood business.
Del Monte made the statement confirming the talks following press speculation of a deal.
“In making this announcement, Del Monte advises that there can be no assurance that the discussions with Dongwon or the exploration of strategic alternatives will result in a transaction and that the board of directors has not approved a transaction at this time,” the company said.
Del Monte added that it did not intend to disclose developments with respect to such discussions or the exploration of strategic alternatives until it deems it appropriate.
