Kraft Foods director Mary Schapiro stepped down from her position at the US food giant yesterday (15 January), the company revealed in a filing with the US Securities and Exchange Commission.
Schapiro, president elect-Barack Obama’s nominee to head the SEC, tendered her resignation on Monday, the filing revealed.
The company emphasised that Schapiro’s departure was not due to a disagreement with the company, its operations, policies or practices.
Schapiro had been a director at Kraft since July 2001 and served as chair of the group’s board’s nominating and governance committee and a member of its audit committee.
Schapiro is also chief executive and chairwoman of the Financial Industry Regulatory Authority and served as an SEC commissioner between 1988 and 1994.
