US egg firm Cal-Maine Foods has turned in a first-quarter profit of almost US$27m for the three months to 1 September.
The firm posted the result this morning (1 October), a result that compared to losses of $6.1m a year earlier.
Net sales reached $178.6m, compared to $115.3m during the first quarter of the company’s last fiscal year.
“Demand for eggs was good from both retail and food service customers in the US and we also experienced strong export sales to Europe and Japan,” said chairman and CEO Fred Adams, Jr.
