US retailer Family Dollar Stores has appointed Don Hamblen to the position of senior vice president – customer marketing.
Hamblen, who began his marketing career as a brand manager with Procter & Gamble in the US, most recently served as chief marketing officer for Sears.
He will report to Dorlisa Flur, executive vice president and chief merchandising officer.
“Our focus on the customer has never been stronger or more important,” said Flur. “We’ve invested significantly to know our customer and understand how to better serve her. Don brings extensive experience in communicating to a broad and diverse retail customer base. Through his leadership we’ll enhance communications to our customers and reinforce our position of value and convenience through our portfolio of private label brands and an improved in-store shopping experience.”
Family Dollar Stores last week reported an increase in first-quarter net income and reiterated its full-year earnings per share guidance for fiscal 2010.
