The US Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has warned ConAgra Foods over the labelling of two of its products as “All-Natural”.
The watchdog has sent the company a letter that claims labels on products sold by subsidiary Alexia Foods break labelling rules.

The FDA said the Roasted Red Potatoes and Baby Portabella Mushrooms products are in violation of the Federal Food, Drug, and Cosmetic Act because they contain disodium dihydrogen pyrophosphate, a synthetic chemical preservative.
The letter said: “Because your products contain this synthetic ingredient, the use of the claim “All-Natural” on this product label is false and misleading, and therefore your product is misbranded.”
If the violations are not addressed, the FDA added, enforcement action, such as seizure or injunction, may be taken.
The letter also noted that a number of Alexia brand products have the “All-Natural” statement on the label and recommended the company reviews all of the product labels to avoid “additional misbranding”.
