Del Monte Foods has appointed former Campbell Soup Co. executive Carl Johnson to the newly-created role of executive vice president of brands.
The company said yesterday (26 October) that Johnson will assume this role in November and report to CEO David West. He will be responsible for the company’s pet brands and the majority of its consumer brands.
A spokesperson for the company said: “He will not participate in a very small number of categories, for example, our College Inn brand.”
Del Monte’ consumer brands include Del Monte, S&W, Contadina and College Inn.
Johnson’s new role will also include responsibility for marketing and consumer insights groups, marketing services, R&D and innovation.
“We created this position to sharpen our consumer focus and build upon our strong foundation of world-class brands,” West said.
