US retailer A&P has appointed Douglas Palmer VP of its own-brands business.
Palmer, a former Safeway executive, will report directly to Rebecca Philbert, senior vice president of merchandising, supply and logistics.
Palmer was previously vice president of consumer brands at Safeway, where he played a pivotal role in the company’s brand rationalisation and consolidation, oversaw the redesign of the company’s own brand labelling and launched Safeway’s organic line.
Palmer has also previously held positions at Ahold USA, Daymon Worldwide, Meijer and Farm Fresh.
Commenting on the appointment, Philbert said: “I am delighted that Doug is bringing his outstanding talent and experience to A&P. From past experience, I know that he will elevate our own brands development and execution to best-in-class levels, aligned with our exciting store format, merchandising and marketing initiatives.”
