“We can confirm that we’re looking into the matter and that we’re working with the school on this,” a Frito-Lay spokesperson said. “It is premature for us to make any comment on this.”

According to a Reuters report, Jes Raintree, president of the board of education for the school district, said the boy discovered the mouse immediately after opening the bag of chips, and did not eat anything from the bag. An adult was near the lunch table at the time.

The school district has removed all potato chips from its vending machines.
