General Mills today (11 June) closed an agreement to acquire Denver-based Humm Foods, the maker of Larabar and Larabar Jocalat natural nutrition bars.

The brands will be integrated into General Mills’ natural and organic unit, Small Planet Foods.

“Larabar is an exceptional brand that is experiencing rapid growth because of the quality and uniqueness of [the] products,” Michele Meyer, president of Small Planet Foods, said.

Humm Foods’ brands compete in the single item, natural and organic category at natural, conventional and speciality grocers across the US and abroad.

Terms of the agreement were not disclosed and General Mills was unavailable for comment as just-food went to press.
