Swiss chocolate maker Barry Callebaut announced today (5 May) that it has extended its supply agreement with US confectioner Hershey.

Hershey has agreed to a long-term increase in the volume of products supplied by Barry Callebaut, expanding the supply and innovation agreement signed in 2007.

Barry Callebaut said it will have invested an incremental US$15m in its North American sites by 31 December 2011 to supply this increase in volume, as well as “other market share growth”.

The company said in April that it is looking to develop its outsourcing relationships with confectioners. Barry Callebaut said that it sees a “lot of potential” in relationships with the likes of Kraft Foods, Nestle and Hershey.
