Hershey and US baker Flowers Foods have teamed up to develop cakes for Hallowe’en in the US.

The companies have launched Kandy Bar Kakes, a product they describe as “the perfect blend of cake and candy”.

Lines include S’mores Kandy Bar Kake made with Hershey’s Cocoa and a peanut butter Kandy Bar Kake made with Reese’s Peanut Butter, the firms said.

They are available in five-count individually wrapped multi-packs at a suggested price of $3.99 and as 2.1-ounce single serves at $1.69.

Last month, a US survey forecast consumers would up their Hallowe’en spending this year. The National Retail Federation said 71.5% of Americans plan to celebrate Hallowe’en this year, up from 68.6% last year. And, on average, US shoppers are planning to spend more on Hallowe’en treats, decorations and costumers – up to US$79.82 each, from $72.31 last year.
