Hormel Foods has revamped its ready meal range with the launch of Hormel Compleats.
A range of microwavable meals available in 21 varieties, Hormel Compleats feature chicken, beef, turkey or tuna as well as vegetables and/or grains, such as pasta, potatoes or rice. Additions to the range include beef steak tips, swedish meatballs and tuna casserole.
Previously known as Hormel Microwave Trays, the range was developed to address the increasing demand for hot, quick meals, Hormel said. The product has seen sales treble over the past three years, making it the fastest-growing product in the company’s grocery division.
“The US$452m microwave meal segment is increasing at double-digit rates. Hormel Compleats fills an underserved, but growing category niche,” said Brett Asay, product manager, Hormel Foods. “With the strong Hormel brand name and heritage in quality meats, and as an innovator in shelf-stable technology, we are in a unique position to meet consumer demand for speedy, portable and satiating meals.”
Hormel Compleats marketing support for the product launch will include TV advertising; FSIs and trade support, including off-shelf displays.
