The recently-revived US baker Hostess Brands is to increase capacity at a plant in Kansas.

The Twinkies manufacturer, bought by private-equity firms Metropoulos & Co. and Apollo Global Management earlier this year after a period under Chapter 11 protection, is expanding a site in the city of Emporia.

Hostess president Rich Seban said the moves would create around 50 full-time jobs. “The plans call for the addition of an approximately 36,000 sq. ft. warehouse building, the installation of a new auto bake production line, and additional equipment upgrades and purchases for a total investment of more than US$30m,” he said.

“The expansion and upgrades will enable Hostess to increase production capacity for our iconic snack cakes and enhance overall efficiencies as we move forward.”
