Icicle Seafoods is set to buy local rival Smoki Foods for an undisclosed sum.

Alaska-based Icicle will snap up Smoki and its subsidiaries including salmon farmer American Gold Seafoods and Cypress Island Seafoods.

“The combination of these businesses will provide both Smoki Foods and Icicle Seafoods substantially expanded access to seafood resources, and will enable them to provide broader and deeper product mix to their customers,” said Icicle president and CEO Don Giles.

Smoki’s owner Rodger May said Icicle is a “perfect partner” for his business.

May added: “We will be able to significantly expand our success and growth, and better serve our customers.”
