US retailer Ingles Markets has booked a third-quarter loss, hurt by a one-off charge.

In the three months ended 29 June, Publix made a net loss of US$14.1m, compared to a profit of $13.1m in the prior year. The retailer said it incurred a charge of $43.1m in the quarter, related to debt repayment.

Operating profit fell 5.3% to $32.9m despite sales being up 1.5% to $931.9m.
