Jelly Belly’s Sports Beans have been proven to improve the exercise performance of endurance athletes.
Researchers at the University of California studied the effects of various carbohydrate supplements including sports drinks and jelly beans on cyclists and tri-athletes during exercise.
Athletes using carb supplements achieved faster times than when consuming water only by maintaining blood sugar levels and muscle carbohydrate stores, but highest average power outputs came after eating Sports Beans, which were launched by the California-based company in August 2005.
A 28g package contains 25g of carbohydrates, sodium and potassium, Thiamine, Riboflavin, and Niacin in levels based upon American College of Sports Medicine (ACSM) guidelines.
