US snack group John B. Sanfilippo & Son has booked an increase in full-year profits on higher sales volumes and improved operating margins.

The company said today (19 August) that net income for fiscal 2014 rose 20.8% to US$26.3m. Operating income was up 21.3% to $12.13m, the Fisher Nut maker revealed. Total operating expenses for fiscal 2014 were 9.7% of net sales compared to 10.7% of net sales for fiscal 2013, the group added.

Gains were driven by a 6% rise in net sales, which climbed to $778.6m. Sales volumes were up across all distribution channels with the exception of export sales, the company revealed. Total volumes gained 8.4% in the period.
