Kashi Company is expanding its portfolio of cereals, crackers and granola bars to include all-natural frozen entrees.


It represents the food products company’s first attempt to enter the frozen food market, and will be launched next month (July).


Kashi brand manager and nutritionist Jeff Johnson said: “For today’s time-starved consumers, frozen foods represent a fast and convenient meal choice; however, there are very few options on the market that provide good nutrition and lasting nourishment.


“Our All-Natural Entrees combine wholesome ingredients and a complete balance of fibre, protein and healthy fats to leave you feeling full and fulfilled.”


Kashi All-Natural Entrees comprise of six 10 oz poultry, seafood and vegetarian varieties, including Lemon Rosemary Chicken, Chicken Pasta Pomodoro, Black Bean Mango, Sweet & Sour Chicken, Southwest Style Chicken and Lime Cilantro Shrimp.

The entrees contain 240-380 calories, five to seven grams of fibre and eight to 19 grams of protein, the company said.
 
“Our entrees were created with the same nutritional mission as our other foods,” added Johnson. “The goal was to create delicious and satisfying meals that have the taste, textures and superior nutrition that Kashi consumers enjoy and expect.”
