Knorr Foods, a wholly owned subsidiary of Japanese food company Ajinomoto, has acquired US food group New Season Foods.
New Season Foods produces sweetcorn powder and other vegetable ingredients for use in the manufacture of instant soups. New Season Foods has been a supplier of strategic ingredients to Ajinomoto since 1985.
New Season said that the acquisition provided the company with exceptional opportunities for long-term growth.
The deal will serve to strengthen one of Ajinomoto’s core businesses by securing a stable supply of ingredients for soup manufactured and sold in Japan, China, Brazil and Southeast Asia. Ajinomoto also plans to develop new ingredients from Pacific Northwest agricultural products for production at New Season Foods, the company said.
