Kraft Foods has expanded its snacks portfolio in the US with the launch of a range of products it claims contain the same amount of calcium as an 8oz glass of milk.

The MilkBite Milk & Granola Bars contain milk, Vitamin D and fibre and are available in five variants: Chocolate, Strawberry, Peanut Butter, Oatmeal Raisin and Mixed Berry.

The range, which can be found in the refrigerated dairy aisle, have been launched as “an alternative to existing bars”, Kraft said. The bars have an RRP of US$3.49.

“With MilkBite, we saw an opportunity to change the status quo and introduce milk into snacking in a whole new way,” Kraft MilkBite senior brand manager Michelle Lorge.

A national television campaign will accompany the launch.
