US dairy firm Land O’Lakes has claimed a market first with the launch of butter with olive oil.
The company said today (19 May) that the product would bring “new life” to the butter category and appeal to the “growing popularity” of “natural foods and pure ingredients”.
Land O Lakes Butter with Olive Oil has half the cholesterol and 45% less saturated fat than “traditional butter” and does not contain any trans fat. The product retails at US$2.49.
“Consumers are looking for foods that are not only delicious, but also contribute to their overall health,” said vice president of marketing Peggy Ellingson.
