Lifeway Foods has reported a 26% rise in third-quarter sales to US$6.56m.

The Illinois-based kefir producer said that the Helios Kefir line and the Pride of Main Street milk brand, both acquired on 31 July, recorded revenues of around $764,000 and $133,000 respectively in the nine-week period from their acquisition to the end of the quarter. Total sales for the third quarter, including acquisitions, therefore reached $7.46m.

“The third quarter of 2006 was another outstanding quarter for Lifeway Foods,” said Lifeway CEO Julie Smolyansky. “Sales continue to grow at a very healthy pace, the buzz surrounding our products seems to be at an all time high, and the recent acquisition of our top competitor, Helios Nutrition, has extremely strengthened our position in the rapidly growing natural and organic food industry.”
