Lindt & Sprungli has expanded its Excellence Bar range in the US with the launch of a bar containing red chilli pepper.

The upmarket Swiss chocolate firm said the dark chocolate Excellence Chili bar is on sale at its Lindt retail stores and selected wholesale outlets in the country.

“The chili and chocolate flavour infusion is a nod to chocolate’s rich history and signals a shift toward consumer connoisseurship,” Thomas Linemayr, CEO and president of Lindt USA, said today (4 June).

Excellence Chili is made with 47% cocoa and retails for US$2.29-$2.99.

North America is proving a lucrative market for Lindt. Despite mounting competition from the likes of Mars and Hershey, the company saw its namesake and Ghirardelli brands gain a greater share of growing premium chocolate sales on the continent last year.
