North Carolina-based bakery group Dewey’s Bakery has announced that Scott Livengood, the former president and CEO of Krispy Kreme Doughnuts, has acquired a 50% stake in the privately-owned company.

Founded in 1930, Dewey’s Bakery has three retail locations in Winston-Salem, North Carolina. It also owns the wholesale operation Salem Baking Company and the specialist cookie producer Moravian Cookie Shops. The Moravian Cookie Shop’s tins and tubes of specialty cookies are sold in retail outlets and shopping centres during traditional holiday seasons.

Dewey Bakery said that Livengood brought “a wealth of experience and ideas that would be valuable to Dewey’s”.
