US spice maker McCormick has recalled a seafood batter mix because it contains an allergen not included on the ingredients list.
The recall includes eight-ounce packages of Golden Dipt tempura seafood batter mix, with UPC Code 4123470132 and a “best by” date of 8 October, 2012.
In a statement released on Friday (4 March), the company said that a “very limited” number number of packages with that date code contain the undeclared ingredient milk.
The recalled cartons were distributed to grocery stores in Florida, Georgia; Kentucky, Massachusetts, Maryland; Maine, Michigan, North Carolina, New Hampshire, New Jersey, New York, Ohio, Pennsylvania, Tennessee and Wisconsin. It was also distributed internationally to the Cayman Islands.
No illnesses or allergic reactions have been linked to the recall, McCormick said.
