Nestle is to move its US pizza business from Illinois to Ohio to improve efficiency and manage costs.
The DiGiornio pizza manufacturer is to switch the business from Northbrook in Illinois to Solon in Ohio, where its prepared foods and baking brands are based.

Paul Grimwood, chairman and CEO of Nestle’s US arm, said: “The decision … allows us to better manage our costs and to improve our efficiencies by operating as One Nestle with our retailers.”
The relocated business will benefit from being close to Nestle’s R&D facilities in Solon. In June, Nestle announced plans to build a centre dedicated to frozen and chilled foods research. The facility will be up and running in early 2015.
Nestle said the “majority” of staff affected would have the chance to move to Ohio. It said the switch would lead to “approximately 250 Nestle jobs” being added to the state.
However, it did not disclose how many staff are based in Northbrook. Officials at Nestle had not returned a request for comment at the time of writing.
