Dutch bakery group CSM is to further consolidate its production facilities in the US.

The company, which is the leading producer of bakery ingredients and products in North America, is to transfer the production at its site in Lancaster, New York to other plants on the continent.

CSM said the move is part of its “efficiency improvement programme” and streamlining of its supply chain.

Earlier this month, CSM sold a unit in the US to Japan-based Fuso Chemical. CSM offloaded its gluconic acid business – described as “small-scale” by the company – for around US$2.5m.

The company, which is based in the Netherlands, operates in Europe, North America, Brazil, and Asia.
