Hilmar Cheese Co., a US supplier to food manufacturers and grocery retailers, has announced plans to expand production at its facility in Dalhart in Texas.

The company said it is improving the plant’s ability to receive milk, expanding cold storage space and broadening cheese block processing equipment.

A spokesperson for Hilmar told just-food the investment would take the workforce at the site from “about 400” to over 420.

“The Texas facility serves customers in the US and world through the port in Houston, Texas,” the spokesperson added. “The facility produces natural cheeses like Cheddar, Monterey Jack, Pepper Jack and others. These are used by private label and national brands, retail and foodservice companies.”
