US fresh produce group Paramount Citrus has acquired Texas-based Healds Valley Farms to expand its product portfolio.

Paramount Citrus, which says it is the largest grower of fresh citrus in North America, said the deal for Healds Valley would mean it now supply red grapefruit to its customers.

It said it will now ship more than 15m cartons of fresh citrus a year to North America, Europe and the Pacific Rim.

Healds Valley general manager Yishai Yeshurun will leave the business. He will be replaced by Rick Burnes, vice president of Paramount Citrus’ supply chain.
