US food giant PepsiCo has moved cereal brand Quaker into the cookie category in its domestic market.

The launch of two lines – Soft Baked Oatmeal Cookies and Crunchy Oat Granola Cookies – marks the first time PepsiCo has sold Quaker cookies in the US. The company already sells Quaker cookie products in markets like Argentina.

PepsiCo claimed Quaker Oats had “long been a key ingredient” in home-made cookies in the US and said it was a “natural fit” to launch pre-packaged products under the brand.

“Creating this line of cookies has been a long time coming for us at Quaker and is a great addition to our portfolio that’s already full of delicious foods made with whole grain oats,” Alberto Fernandez, vice president of PepsiCo’s Quaker Foods & Snacks North America unit, said.

The Soft Baked Oatmeal Cookies are sold in five flavours including banana nut, cranberry & yoghurt and raisins.

The Crunchy Oat Granola Cookies are sold in flavours, including mixed berry, mixed nuts and raisins. Both lines have a suggested retail price of $2.69.
