Fresh produce grower and distributor BanaBay is eyeing “agressive” expansion in the US market, where it is rolling out its conventional, organic and Fairtrade offering of bananas, pineapples and plantains.

The company initially introduced the BanaBay brand to the US in February and delivered its first shipment of bananas in May.

This October, BanaBay hopes to step up growth and is attending the PMA Fresh Summit Convention and Expo in Anaheim, Ca. BanaBay said that it plans to leverage its presence at the event to act as a “springboard” in the country.

“Our objective is to capitalise on the success story of BanaBay within the North America marketplace and continue to provide reliable, flexible and cost-effective solutions to our valued customer base,” Tom Burke, president of BanaBay’s North American operations, commented.

“The US market is particularly enthusiastic about exceptional quality and ethically produced fruit so having the organic and Fairtrade accredited bananas has helped drive interest in BanaBay,” he continued.
