US supermarket group Publix has booked an increase in full-year sales and earnings, despite one less trading week in the fourth quarter.
The company said today (1 March) that net earnings for 2012 increased by 4% to US$1.6bn. Sales gained 1.9% in the 52 week period, climbing to $27.5bn. When adjusted for the extra trading week in 2011, sales were up 3.8%.

Revenues were driven by higher comparable sales from stores open at least one year, which rose 2.2% in the period.
