US organic foods group The Really Cool Food Co. is set to merge with produce firm Renaissance Food Group.
The two sides said the deal, announced today (10 June), would offer “retailers and consumers the broadest selection of the freshest prepared and value added fresh foods”.
Under the plans, California-based Renaissance Food Group will lead the sales and marketing team for the combined company, which will push brands including Really Cool Foods and Garden Highway.
Jim Catchot, president and CEO of Renaissance Food Group, said retailers want a “solution to fresh high quality foods” for their shoppers.
“Now with The Really Cool Food Company, we can significantly expand the menu of items offered. Our logistics and distribution channels provide retailers a wide choice of prepared foods within a short order cycle,” Catchcot said.
