Ross Stores will acquire 46 former Albertsons outlets in six states as part of its ambitious expansion plans next year, the company said.

The retailer will take over sites in California, Florida, Texas, Arizona, Colorado and Oklahoma by November, converting them into Ross discount stores and DD’s Discounts.

Ross expects to spend between US$1.5m and $2m per site, but did not disclose the terms of the deal.

Albertsons, the second-largest supermarket chain in the US, was sold in January to a consortium of investors.
