US retailer Safeway has said Des Hague will succeed Rojon Hasker as president, general manager, perishables. Hasker will focus on her role as president, general manager, lifestyle.
Hague will oversee the company’s perishables operation including produce, floral, meat, seafood and bakery.
Previously, Hague has held positions with Hot Stuffs Foods, where he was chairman and CEO. Prior to that he served as VP Fresh Food Merchandising at 7-Eleven. He has also held positions at PepsiCo and Whitebread in the UK and Europe.
“Bringing someone of Des’ calibre to Safeway will provide our company with an even greater opportunity to build on our already strong reputation for superior perishables,” said Brian Cornell, Safeway EVP, chief marketing officer. “His strong track record as an executive across some of the world’s best food service and CPG companies is well suited to Safeway’s results-oriented culture and overall business objectives.”
