US retailer Safeway has promoted Michael R. Minasi, currently senior vice president, marketing, to the position of president, marketing. Minasi will report to chairman, president and CEO Steven A. Burd.


As senior vice president, marketing, Minasi had been overseeing advertising, brand management and marketing strategies, and also assumed responsibility for the company’s private-label marketing and online shopping functions.


“Over the past 11 years, Mike’s role and responsibilities have increased considerably,” said Burd. “He has been a consistent contributor to Safeway’s success.”


Minasi joined Safeway in 1996, having previously worked for toy retailer Toys “R” Us.
