US supermarket chain Shaw’s is voluntarily recalling its fresh ground beef supplied by Fairbank Farms due to suspected contamination with small pieces of plastic.


“As always, the health and safety of our customers is our number one priority, and we are working quickly to ensure that affected products are removed from store shelves,” the company said in a statement.


This product recall includes all Shaw’s 90/10 ground sirloin bulk 1.2lb units, Shaw’s 80/20 ground beef bulk 1.2lb units and Shaw’s 80/20 ground beef patty 1.3lb and 3lb units.


The recalled product has sell by dates of: 5/7, 5/8, 5/9, 5/10, 5/11, 5/12, 5/13.


Customers who have purchased the affected product are being urged to bring the product back to a Shaw’s store location for a full refund or exchange.
