JM Smucker plans to expand its presence in the snacks category through the acquisition of Sahale Snacks, a premium nut and fruit snack manufacturer.

“This is an exciting acquisition and an excellent strategic fit for our company,” said Paul Smucker Wagstaff, president of US retail consumer foods. “The addition of the Sahale Snacks premium lifestyle brand, and its portfolio of innovative and on-trend products, provides an established platform for growth in the snacking space.”

Terms of the transaction were not disclosed but Smucker said the deal would not have a material impact on fiscal 2015 results.

Sahale is based in Seattle and the company currently employs around 150 people. Sales are projected to be around US$50m for the fiscal 2014 calendar year, Smucker revealed.
