US-based snacks producer Lance has bought a stake in organic sector firm Late July Snacks.

Lance refused to reveal the size of the stake or how much it paid for its investment but said it had acquired “a non-controlling minority equity interest” in the company.

President and CEO Dave Singer said the move was “consistent” with Lance’s strategy to boost its presence in “the better-for-you products category”.

Late July Snacks, based in Massachusetts, is a family-owned company formed in 2003 and produces a range of crackers, sandwich crackers and cookies.
