Food industry start-up Caulipower has been included in a list of product innovation winners in the consumer packaged goods space.

Nielsen Global Connect’s 2019 Top 25 Breakthrough Innovation Winners recognises innovation and global success in the CPG sector.

New York-based Nielsen noted that a new product was rolled out in the US market every two minutes this year and the winners stood out among close to 45,000 new launches reviewed.

“The brands that made the 2019 list reflect a wide range of products and approaches that succeeded in making meaningful connections with consumers, an impressive feat within an increasingly crowded marketplace,” it said.

In no particular order, the food companies on the list include the aforementioned Caulipower, which uses Cauliflower to produce the likes of pizza crusts and chicken coatings. Flowers Foods for Dave’s Killer Bread Bagels, Kraft Heinz for Just Crack an Egg – a product sold in a pot to which consumers add an egg and microwave for a savoury egg scramble – and its frozen range Devour. 

Also included are confectioner Ferrero for Kinder Joy, potato product firm Lamb Weston for Grown in Idaho, PepsiCo for Lay’s Poppables under its Frito-Lay brand and General Mills for it Oui by Yoplait yogurt brand.
